On June 12, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) U.K. Future Leaders Committee plans to host a free tour of London’s Mossbourne Community Academy, which, at the time of construction in 2004, was the largest glulam structure in the U.K. Glulam is a stress-rated, engineered wood beam composed of wood laminations, or “lams” bonded together with durable, moisture-resistant adhesives. Scheduled from 4:30-6:30 p.m., the tour will be guided by RSHP Associate Partner Lorna Edwards and Sustainability Lead Michelle Sanchez. It will be followed by an informal discussion about the potential of timber as a construction material. Edwards and Sanchez run the architectural firm’s sustainability initiative, aimed at “ultimately going beyond sustainable and toward regenerative.” Register for the tour here.
