Players on the Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) Knights men’s basketball team became trapped in an elevator at a Brooklyn wellness center on February 15, resulting in delaying a match against the Long Island University Sharks by approximately 17 min, the New York Post is among outlets to report. Fire Department of New York personnel rescued the entrapped players after about 15 min, with FDU going on to lose to LIU 82-84 in overtime. The FDU Knights made national headlines during the 2023-24 season when they beat No. 1 seed Purdue. Results of the most recent game prompted one basketball analyst to say that, although Purdue has nothing on FDU, “the Knights met their match in a New York elevator shaft.”
