Elevator Falls at IHC Building

A lift at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) premises in Islamabad, Pakistan, fell from the second floor to the ground floor on February 6, marking the second elevator-related incident at the courthouse in recent days, The Express Tribune reports. The elevator had seven individuals inside, but all occupants were safely evacuated. Court officials have not released a statement regarding the cause of the malfunction, but concerns about lift safety in the building have grown, the source reports. This incident follows a similar mishap in which a prominent lawyer and 10 others were trapped inside of an elevator on the premises for approximately 45 min last year. It is suspected that this incident was potentially caused by the elevator being overloaded.
