Energy-Efficient Escalators Among 2022 DEN Milestones

Significant progress on a new set of triple escalators and completion of another single set of escalators are among 2022 milestones being celebrated by Denver International Airport (DEN), Mile High CRE reports. Part of DEN’s Great Hall Project on Level 6 that includes new security checkpoints and the relocation of approximately 20 airlines, the new triple escalators will take passengers from Level 6 directly to Level 4 where they can board trains to their gates. The main components of the trio of 40-ft-long units — set to open in the first quarter of 2024 — were recently installed. New energy-efficient escalators between levels 5 and 6, meanwhile, are now open, enabling the return of one of DEN’s gargoyles that are part of a public art installation, Notre Denver, by artist Terry Allen. The other gargoyle will return once work on the east side baggage claim area concludes. The entire Great Hall Project is slated for completion in summer 2028.
