In response to concerns voiced by the minister for interior on behalf of passengers, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Javed Abbasi has assured the National Assembly of Pakistan that non-functional escalators at the stations of Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Service will soon be back in service, DAWN reports. Abbasi said that all equipment needed for repairs had been imported, and escalators would be functional within days. Repairs were delayed when the State Bank of Pakistan stopped issuing letters of credit (LCs), preventing the import of necessary equipment. Permission to open LCs was eventually obtained. The Metro Bus Service operates between Saddar Rawalpindi and Secretariat.
