Four New KONE Escalators Coming to London DLR Station

Four new energy-efficient escalators connecting the three floors of the Cutty Sark Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in south-east London are expected to be in service by next spring, Rail UK reports. In the meantime, the station will be closed due to limited space. KONE is handling the work, according to DRL documents. All escalators will be replaced at the same time to minimize disruption to customers, who are instructed to use the nearby Greenwich station. With the existing escalators becoming increasingly more unreliable, Transport for London (TfL) has fielded its fair share of complaints. “We know Cutty Sark’s escalators have been causing disruption and frustration for our customers and we would like to thank them for their patience during this period,” TfL Head of Operations for DLR Ben Grellier said.
