Fourth Global Lifting Awareness Day Set for July 13

The fourth Global Lifting Awareness Day – #GLAD2023 – will take place on July 13. Powered by the U.K.’s Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) and supporting organizations, GLAD is now a widely celebrated day where manufacturers, suppliers and end users share material that promotes safe and high-quality load lifting. Social media posts, videos, articles and in-person activity will be gathered by using the hashtag #GLAD2023. Industry stakeholders are also invited to share their content so LEEA can add it to the newly updated website where information about apprenticeships, military recruitment, diversity, sustainability and technology has been posted during previous years. The key message remains the same, but LEEA has updated the logo for those in the industry to use to celebrate their involvement and promote it as an interesting industry for work, especially to younger generations. Ross Moloney, CEO at LEEA, said, “There’s an energy building behind plans for this year’s Global Lifting Awareness Day that suggest it will be the most widely supported and impactful ever, Fighting gravity is inherently dangerous, and getting it wrong can lead to accident, injury and even fatality. That makes it an extremely important, challenging and rewarding sector to work in, which is just one of the messages we’re encouraging people to promote.”
