Fujitec Singapore Corp., Ltd. announced on August 29 it has completed a nearly four-year modernization of the 19 elevators serving Tower One at One Raffles Place (formerly OUB Center) in Singapore. Built in 1986, the 280-m-tall tower was once the tallest building in Asia. It features 63 stories above ground and three below. Fujitec Singapore provided the original high-speed elevators, traveling at 420 m/min. Machine replacement resulted in increasing the speed of six elevators to 480 m/min — the fastest for an elevator modernization offered by the Fujitec Group to date. The modernized system features EZSHUTTLE, a destination-dispatch system that eases congestion during peak hours and reduces overall wait and ride times. EZSHUTTLE was installed at the beginning of the modernization and has been in service since, helping provide greater efficiency throughout the project despite fewer elevators being in service. This modernization marked the first time Fujitec Singapore installed the Active Roller Guide, a mechanism that detects vibration during operations to reduce car sway and enhance user comfort.
