Fujitec’s First Double-Deck Lift Order in U.K. Part of Project

Fujitec announced on July 8 it has been awarded a 26 vertical-transportation (VT) unit contract for 60 Gracechurch Street, an office redevelopment project in the City of London’s historic Financial District by Obayashi Properties UK Ltd. Fujitec will deliver four escalators and 22 elevators, including its first double-deck elevator groups in the U.K. Consisting of upper and lower cabs connected vertically, double-deck elevators boast high transport capacity. The elevators and escalators will serve the new 37-story, 39,000-m2 tower featuring offices, retail and a rooftop garden. Completion is anticipated in early 2029, and Fujitec said it also looks forward to providing maintenance for the VT system. “We see delivering this project successfully as a key step in expanding our presence in the U.K.’s high-end elevator and escalator market,” Fujitec stated.
