Construction of the mixed-use Greenland Centre in Sydney’s CBD has wrapped up, The Urban Developer reported on November 3. The AUD400-million (US$295-million), 236-m-tall skyscraper, the tallest residential tower in Sydney, was developed by Greenland Australia, which acquired the site n 2013. Rather than demolish the existing 26-floor building, Greenland led a project to enable the retention of the base building while delivering a new 40-story tower above it. Construction was handled by Probuild. Demolition on the site began in early 2015 and construction on the main tower began in 2017. The adjoining heritage-listed Art Deco-style former Metropolitan Water Sewerage and Drainage Board building has now been converted into the Primus Hotel, a 180-bed, five-star boutique hotel. Above it sits 479 apartments that vary in size from 39 to 265 m2. The vertical-transportation consultant was WSP, and the system is by KONE.
