St. Matthews A.M.E. Zion Church on the corner of Thorn and Walnut streets in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, is improving its accessibility with the addition of an elevator, TribLIVE.com reports. The church is the oldest African American church in Sewickley and is designated a historic landmark by the Pittsburgh History & Landmark Foundation. The renovations are expected to be completed this year and are being funded through contributions from community members, the Sewickley Valley Historical Society, the Sewickley Community Fund and Sewickley Presbyterian Church. An additional estimated US$60,000 is required to finalize the elevator project, according to the source.
