Hyprlift Announces First U.S. Patent Award

Silicon Valley, California-based Hyprlift, Inc., announced it was awarded its first U.S. patent on June 3 for its dynamic-traction drive for vertical-transportation (VT) systems. This now-patented technology is at the heart of Hyprlift’s self-propelled elevator cabs that allow for multiple cabs to travel autonomously in the same shaft. Fewer shafts mean that new buildings can be designed with narrower cores, freeing up valuable interior space for other uses, Hyprlift observes. Existing under-elevatored buildings can, for the first time, meet their building’s VT needs, the company continued. This Hyprlift patent is one of nearly a dozen international patents pending. Founded in 2019 by James Hutchinson, Hyprlift has received numerous research grants.
