Hyundai Elevator, Kakao Mobility Join Forces on Elevator-Robot Integration Initiative

South Korea’s Hyundai Elevator Co. announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kakao Mobility Corp. to develop standards for integrating elevators and robots, outlets including The Korea Economic Daily reported on August 8. Under the MoU, the companies will establish the Technology Enhancement Advisory Group to collaborate in areas such as “vertical logistics within buildings and service sales and promotion.” According to Hyundai Elevator, at the core of elevator-robot integration is its advanced elevator maintenance solution, MIRI, launched in June 2023. The solution facilitates remote inspections and fault analysis, as well as the integration of delivery robots, utilizing the Internet of Things, AI and cloud technology. In South Korea, there are more than 33,000 sites using MIRI, and that is expected to reach 45,000 by the end of 2024.
