Hyundai Elevator launched a “groundbreaking” robot delivery service for employees at its headquarters (HQ) in Chungju, South Korea, Business Korea reports. Marking a major step forward in automation and smart building technology, the service delivers beverages and snacks via robots from a first-floor café, “marking a new era” in integrating robotics with elevator systems. In March 2022, Hyundai Elevator unveiled an open application program interface (API) that integrates robots, smart devices and other platforms with elevators. Hyundai Elevator then successfully registered platform accounts with more than 60 robot manufacturers, according to the source. Today, more than 40 delivery robots using Hyundai Elevator’s cloud-based API technology are used in sectors including healthcare, hospitality and finance. The company is continually signing agreements with “construction companies and robot manufacturers to further promote the use of robot delivery systems from apartment community centers to individual homes.” The technology, the source observed, promises to enhance efficiency, convenience and sustainability in modern infrastructure.
