On February 11, all elevators inside West Suburban Medical Center’s campus buildings in River Forest, Illinois, passed inspections for the first time since March 2024, reports the Wednesday Journal of Oak Park and River Forest. Having failed several past-due category 1 tests that assess elevator safety causing the hospital to receive several letters of violation from the Village of River Forest, West Suburban was found liable for a US$750 fine for the elevators on its River Forest campus. Matt Walsh, River Forest Village administrator, stated “We try to not issue citations because ultimately our goal is compliance, but if the village doesn’t see any meaningful progress or responsiveness to our inspectors or our staff, then we have escalated to citations.”
