In Memoriam: Michael J. Walsh

Walsh

Michael J. Walsh of Weymouth, Massachusetts, who enjoyed a nearly 60-year elevator industry career and owned his own company, United Elevator, passed away on July 22 at the age of 78 surrounded by his family. Following military service, Walsh and his wife, Charlene, lived in South Boston before settling in Weymouth, where he began his career as a member of International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 4. Starting in the Walsh home, United Elevator grew into one of Boston’s largest independent elevator companies and a source of great pride for Walsh. Walsh was the devoted husband of wife, Charlene, for 60 years and the loving father of nine children. Beyond his professional legacy, Walsh was most proud of his family, including his 24 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and beloved dog, George.
