In Memoriam: Neil Proud

Proud

The London, U.K.-based Lift and Escalator Industry Association (LEIA) in July announced the passing of Neil Proud, owner of Prolift Management Ltd. and lead end-point assessor at LEIA Assessment. “Neil was kind, funny, professional and diligent in everything he did,” LEIA observed. “He was an excellent assessor who managed to put the apprentices at ease while getting the best from them.” Proud joined the LEIA Assessment team in 2021, bringing with him nearly 40 years’ experience in the lift industry. He began his career in 1983 as an apprentice at Stannah Lifts, where he worked for almost 10 years, progressing from installation engineer to lead installer then tester of hydraulic lifts. In the early 1990s, Proud moved on to install platform lifts before entering the service phase of his career with ThyssenKrupp, Liftwise and D&A Lifts. In January 2020, he set up Prolift Management to assist consultants, lift companies and lift owners with site, office and training services.
