In Memoriam: Rose Marie Makrugin

Makrugin

Calgary, Canada, native Rose Marie Makrugin, who worked at C&M Elevator prior to its sale to Otis and helped host the 1980 Canadian Elevator Contractors Association (CECA) Convention in Calgary, passed away at the age of 87 on January 17 with her husband of almost 66 years, Nikolas, by her side. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Nikolas; her brother, Paul Conklin; and her children, Shelly and Jarre and their families,” CECA stated. Makrugin grew up by the corner of the Bow River in what is now part of Shouldice Park. After spending 26 years in Calgary’s Brentwood community, the Makrugins moved to Strathmore where they made many new friends. An exceptional seamstress who loved sewing outfits for her granddaughters, Makrugin enjoyed music, travel and get-togethers with friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to an Alzheimer’s or animal charity.
