In Memoriam: Yoram Madar

Yoram Madar, an elevator engineer, entrepreneur and innovator with several patents, passed away at age 69 surrounded by his wife and three children, Dan and Assaf, both engineers, and Dr. Keta Nela, at his home in Israel, his family announced in January. Madar founded Rolls Elevator in Rishon LeZion, Israel, in 1975, and designed one of the first microprocessor elevator controllers in 1983. His elevator safety innovations included door-lock and brake monitoring solutions based on his patented FSSG technology, as well as the patented RCE product for reduced-clearance elevators. Madar’s FSSG-based elevator safety devices are approved by U.S. code authorities and have been successfully installed in numerous locations. Madar was a speaker at industry events and has published in various trade publications, including ELEVATOR WORLD. His children plan to carry on his legacy of innovating to enhance elevator safety.
