Indian State Rolls Out Lift Registration Portal

The state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) in north central India has launched a lift registration portal that aims to simplify the process of registering lifts and escalators to ensure they meet state government requirements, including mandatory inspections and proof of maintenance, the Hindustan Times is among outlets to report. The move follows UP enacting the Lift and Escalator Act requiring registration of all public, private and government vertical-transportation equipment. Since going live on October 20, 2024, the portal has thus far received more than 20 applications. Once applicants complete the process, including fee payment, approval will be automatically granted, UP Director of Electrical Safety GK Singh said.
