The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has begun installing escalators and elevators on the 9-km Poonamallee-Porur stretch in India as part of the phase II project, DT Next reported. According to officials, the installation will be completed by September. CMRL authorities have acquired 40 elevators manufactured in Chennai and 60 escalators imported from China. Installation was in progress at the Porur Bypass Metro station as of the report on March 1. The Poonamallee-Porur stretch will see elevators installed at all of its locations, but some stations may not have escalators due to space constraints.
