Construction has begun on an elevator installation at Key City Theatre in Cranbrook, British Columbia (BC), Canada, 102.9 Rewind Radio reports. The theater announced this week that work has begun on its elevator installation, which will increase accessibility of all of the theater’s levels. The installation was made possible through a combination of community fundraising and government investment, with the theater’s Dreams Come True raffle raising CAD35,940 (US$26,407) and the Department of Canadian Heritage contributing CAD200,000 (US$146,956). Additional funding came from Columbia Basin Trust and the Regional District of East Kootenay’s Electoral Area C. The elevator is set to connect the first and second floors of the building. No official completion date has been announced, but the theater says it will provide updates.
