Laura’s Home Women’s Crisis Center Planning Elevator Renovations
Rise: Women’s Philanthropy Initiative at The City Mission, a philanthropic organization in Cleveland, Ohio, will fund the renovation of the elevator for Laura’s Home Women’s Crisis Center at 18120 Puritas Ave. in Cleveland, the Cleveland Jewish News reports. Laura’s Home currently has 78 children, many of whom are toddlers or infants who that utilize strollers, living on its ground where the elevator has not been updated in the 22 years the center has been open. The renovation project will begin in the next quarter of 2025 and will cost approximately US$75,000 — US$60,000 of which will be donated by Rise. Renovations will include modernizing the hydraulics and equipment controls, along with renovating the elevator cab. The project aims to address the “root cause” of the elevator’s breakdowns, as well as enhance its reliability and prevent unexpected outages.
