LESA Looks to AGM, Upcoming Executive Committee Changes

Lift Engineering Society of Australia (LESA) plans to host its Annual General Meeting (AGM) via Zoom on April 19 from 5:30-6 p.m. The meeting is set to feature a presentation on wind in lift shafts by Graeme Wood of Arup, as well as goodbyes to a number of its executive officers whose positions will become vacant automatically at the AGM. LESA is currently accepting nominations for positions becoming available, and LESA President John Tibbitts thanked outgoing officers. They include longtime LESA Treasurer George Kavallaris, who has taken a new role in New York; marketing specialist Andrew Packness, who is stepping down for family reasons; and Education Officer Kaz Abramowicz, who Tibbits says “organized guest speakers for our meetings despite the problems that COVID has thrown up over the past few years.” Tibbitts also thanked Historian John Inglis, Codes Specialist Noel Smith, Secretary Pam Strykowski, Newsletter Producer Graeme McRae, Catering Specialist Kate Hibner, General Mark Randle and General Scottt Hampson, “who have all done a great job in their various roles.”
