Lift Technician Dies After Crushed by Elevator in Hong Kong

A lift technician died after being crushed by an elevator in the largest district general hospital in Pok Fu Lam on Hong Kong Island of Hong Kong on July 27, Hong Kong Free Press reports. The technician was in his 50s and was working in an elevator shaft at the hospital when the carriage fell, trapping him, according to a statement from the Association for the Rights of Industrial Accident Victims. The Hospital Authority, which manages the city’s public hospital, confirmed the fatal incident. The labor rights group called on authorities to investigate its cause.
