A male airline passenger with restricted mobility (PRM) died after falling down an escalator at Gatwick Airport near London on June 15, and an investigation is underway, Independent reports. He was one of three PRMs who an aviation logistics staff member was trying to help disembark an arriving plane, but apparently “decided to make his own way from the aircraft to the terminal,” where he fell from the escalator and sustained fatal injuries. The logistics provider said it is normal for a single staff member to provide assistance to three PRMs at once. Describing the incident as “sad and tragic,” a Gatwick Airport spokesperson said “our thoughts remain with the family of the deceased.”
