Al-Futtaim Contracting, a division of Al-Futtaim Real Estate in the U.A.E., Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt, on September 9 announced an exclusive partnership with South Korea’s Hyundai Elevator to “deliver next-generation elevator and escalator technologies to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).” The agreement, which entails Al-Futtaim serving as the sole distributor to supply, install and maintain Hyundai’s full suite of vertical-transportation (VT) solutions in KSA, was signed by Al-Futtaim Contracting Managing Director Murali S. and Hyundai Elevator Head of Global Sales Yum Kyu Sang at Hyundai Elevator’s Seoul headquarters. As part of the visit, Murali toured the OEM’s Smart Campus in Chung-Ju City that includes the 250-m-tall Hyundai Asan Test Tower, featuring elevators capable of speeds of up to 21 m/s. The partnership will encompass all VT products, including machine-room-less elevators, escalators, moving walks and ultra-fast, high-speed elevators, “supporting the Kingdom’s ambitious urban and infrastructure initiatives.”
