Multiplex UK has been tapped by AXA IM Alts to build the City of London’s newest skyscraper — the 36-story 60,400-m2 office tower 50 Fenchurch Street, Construction News reports. Located in the Financial District neighboring the Walkie Talkie, 50 Fenchurch Street was designed by Eric Parry Architects to achieve BREEAM Outstanding and net-zero operation, incorporating approximately 70 species of plants on landscaped gardens and terraces. Two nearby heritage sites — the Medieval church tower of All Hallows Staining and Lambe’s Chapel Crypt — will be preserved. Multiplex UK previously worked with AXA IM Alts on 22 Bishopsgate, a 62-story tower that joined the London skyline in 2020 and was an ELEVATOR WORLD Project of the Year for Otis. With Arup taking the lead on engineering, 50 Fenchurch Street is slated for completion in 2028.
