Dan Gilbert, the billionaire developer behind the ambitious redevelopment of the Hudson’s Department Store site in downtown Detroit, recently released updated renderings, including one showing escalators, the Detroit Free Press reported on May 12. Located at 1208 Woodward Avenue, the project broke ground in December 2017 and is currently under construction. The plan includes a skyscraper previously described as having 49 floors and being 680 ft tall and an 11-story midrise building. The taller tower would have up to 120 luxury apartments on the upper floors with a hotel below, while the shorter tower would house office space, exhibition space and ground-floor retail. Completion is anticipated in 2024, two years behind schedule.
