Non-Functioning FOB VT Irks Residents of Large Indian City

Non-functioning vertical-transportation (VT) equipment serving foot overbridges (FoBs) in Hyderabad, the capital and largest city in the Indian state of Telangana, is creating problems for residents, particularly students and the elderly, The Hans India reports. People are forced to cross some of the city’s busiest main roads due to escalators and elevators that do not work due to lack of a power connection or improper maintenance. The source spoke with several residents who urged the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corp. to pay greater attention to making VT equipment operational, especially considering rising temperatures. “We pedestrians can’t find elevators operational at the FoB near LV Prasad Eye Hospital,” one resident said. “With no lift functioning, it is a nightmare for patients to cross the stretch, especially for senior citizens.”
