Manhattan, NYC-based architect ODA designed a pair of 43-story tapering residential towers in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for developer Dependable Equities, headquartered in Brooklyn, NYC, The Architect’s Newspaper reports. Incorporating a nine-story podium with 11,000 ft2 for restaurants and retail, Ombrelle is planned at 300 Northeast 3rd Avenue in the trendy Flagler Village neighborhood. Also on the drawing board for the 1.5 million-ft2 development are a large urban plaza connected to a colonnade surrounding the structure and amenities such as two swimming pools, a work lounge, a chef’s kitchen and a shared garden. Staggered outdoor balconies will “create unique sky gardens for each apartment,” the source observes. Situated strategically on a corner, the urban plaza aims to be a “catalyst for public activity,” according to ODA, which announced its inaugural Fort Lauderdale project in 2021.
