NYC LIRR Among “Most Beautiful for Interior Design”

Grand Central Madison, the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) station on Manhattan, NY’s East Side, was awarded UNESCO’s 2024 Prix Versailles Interior Award in the World’s Most Beautiful Passenger Station category in December 2024, MSN was among outlets to report. Opening in January 2023 and featuring multiple commissioned works of art, the 7,000-ft2 terminal is served by Schindler escalators. Schindler National Escalator Sales Manager Heather Millard said she is thankful for the hardworking men and women who manufactured the equipment and ensure it runs safely every day. The Prix Versailles Interior Award is given annually to recently opened or renovated metro stations. Additional winners of the 2024 award include Scharfbergen Station in St. Wolfgang, Austria; Bell Station in Melbourne, Australia; Beijing Station in Beijing, China; Toulouse Matabiau Station in Toulouse, France; and Chiaia Metro Station in Naples, Italy.
