More than 100 summer interns at Otis recently volunteered in Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Connecticut and Philadelphia, supporting nonprofits, including those supporting food banks and homeless shelters. The weeklong initiative included interns from Connecticut sorting more than 21,000 lb. of food — including a record-breaking 11,428 lb. in one day — for a FoodShare program; in Boston, delivering nearly 60 care packages to area homeless shelters; in Chicago, organizing the cleanup of Oak Street Beach; and in Charlotte, delivering groceries to those in need through Loaves & Fishes Community Services. “Otis has a long-term environmental, social and governance (ESG) goal of achieving 500,000 colleague volunteer hours by 2030,” Otis Head of Corporate Social Responsibility Matt Turner said. “The volunteerism efforts of Otis interns across the U.S. exemplify the impact our colleagues have on communities where we live and work.”
