Otis announced on February 17 that Otis Panama has been selected to provide maintenance for more than 200 pieces of vertical-transportation (VT) equipment on Line 1 of the Panama Metro over the next four years. Most of the 60 elevators and 158 escalators were installed by Otis in 2013. In addition to Line 1, Otis Panama provided more than 220 elevators and escalators for Line 2 in 2016. Selected to install VT equipment for the upcoming Line 3, Otis Panama has maintained all VT units serving Lines 1 and 2 since installation. Once Line 3 is complete, the company will maintain more than 500 VT units throughout the Panama Metro. Otis District Manager Panama and Costa Rica Stancy Guerrero said the latest contract continues the OEM’s “multi-year support for this historic infrastructure project.”
