Firefighters from several agencies in the Ozarks, including the Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District in Rogersville, Missouri, spent the week at district headquarters learning how to rescue entrapped people from elevators, KY3 reported on April 27. The training included a classroom portion during which firefighters learned the basic anatomy of an elevator, different types of elevators and their components. Firefighters learned how to operate elevators during a fire and release trapped passengers. Trainees performed rescue operations using props, as well as visited real sites to perform different operations such as hoisting and lowering cars. “This is just one more way we are ensuring our firefighters are ready when needed,” the Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District stated.
