Phoenix Modular Elevator Inc., headquartered in Mount Vernon, Illinois, recently showcased on LinkedIn the four modular elevators it built for temporary grandstands at the F1® Las Vegas Grand Prix, a Formula One car race planned for November 21-23. Phoenix Director of Operations and Business Development Chuck Tyler said the modular elevators were built for last year’s race and stored over the past year to be re-used this year and in the future. In response to Jason Armistead of GAL Manufacturing asking how an elevator is stored for a year, Tyler explained that a total of seven modular elevators built by Phoenix were stored on their sides in a large warehouse the client has on the north end of the Vegas Strip. “In preparation, the doors are locked, the cabs and jacks are secured and the remainer of the oil in the system is drained,” Tyler said, adding that the setup for this year’s race went smoothly. The Phoenix team is now awaiting final adjustments and pretesting in preparation for the race. Look for more about this exciting project soon in ELEVATOR WORLD!
