In downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, developer Neutral and general contractor  (GC) C.D. Smith Construction broke ground on June 16 on the future tallest timber tower in North America, The Daily Reporter is among outlets to report. Standing 31 stories — 24 of which are made of mass timber — Neutral.Edison will offer 350 apartments at 1005 North Edison Street. Slated for completion in 2027, it will surpass current record holder the 25-story Ascent MKE, declared the world’s tallest tower shortly after completion in 2022. Also built by GC C.D. Smith, Ascent is less than a mile from the Neutral.Edison site in downtown Milwaukee. The world’s tallest timber tower looks to be the 50-story Atlassian Sydney Headquarters in Sydney, Australia, being built by Grange Development and slated for completion in 2027. Schindler will be providing the elevators and LCI Australia Pty. Ltd. will be providing the consulting for that project.
