Officials with the City of Cheboygan, Michigan, are still looking for elevator repairs to the city’s pedestrian footbridge, Cheboygan Daily Tribune reports. The city reported in June 2021 that its Downtown Development Authority (DDA) was preparing to begin work on the bridge’s two elevators but, as of January, the city was looking at available options. The city had gotten an estimated US$45,000 to fix stage pistons on just one of the elevators, but this has created questions about how to proceed. Needed repairs could fix long-time problem water leakage in the elevator pits, but the cost raised questions about the repairs. Some suggest now that the city purchase adjacent property and build a ramp that could be used as a substitute for one of the elevators. Other possible repairs are under consideration, but costs are raising concerns.
