The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) moved forward with its Vision 2030 initiative by approving the design of the world’s tallest sports tower — the 130-m-tall Global Sports Tower — in Riyadh, Construction Review reported in July. A key component of Riyadh’s 135-km Sports Boulevard, Global Sports Tower will include within its 84,000 m2 a digitized running track, the world’s tallest indoor climbing wall at 98 m, and more than 30 sports amenities catering to a wide array of athletic interests. Construction will utilize sustainable technologies and materials to minimize environmental impact. The facility is also expected to draw tourists from all over the world, contributing to the local economy and in line with KSA’s strategy to reduce reliance on oil and gas.
