Following Schindler being chosen to deliver, install and maintain 136 elevators and 272 escalators for the Cairo Monorail project in Egypt, Schindler selected the IP-based 2N® LiftIP from 2N Telekomunikace a.s. to support lift communication with a unit in each of the project’s elevators. The 2N LiftIP uses VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology to transmit calls from the lift cabin with full duplex audio transmission to facilitate high-quality, uninterrupted communication. IP connectivity also allows continuous online monitoring and remote management. When it opens later this year, the Cairo Monorail will be the longest monorail system in the world. Its two main lines will create the first public transportation links between the Cairo metropolitan area and the New Administrative Capital — the new administrative and financial capital of Egypt. The monorail will have the capacity to transport nearly 45,000 passengers per hour in each direction.
