Schindler tells ELEVATOR WORLD it provided 32 energy-efficient, low-rise 3000 elevators to 32 new school buildings being constructed by the City of Berlin in Germany. Because the structures are timber modular extension buildings, the elevators are installed in wooden shafts using a certified, high-efficiency assembly method conceived by Schindler, which is supporting the full lifecycle of all units. Cutting-edge sensors transmit condition data to a technical operations center in Berlin so minor issues can be detected and resolved before escalating into full-scale failures. The Schindler 3000 series also features variable-frequency regenerative drives, smaller motors and universal digital controllers. Schindler said its experience working with timber enabled it to be the city’s “one-stop provider of barrier-free vertical mobility” for the new schools.
