Schindler VT for Bogotá’s New Elevated Rail System
Schindler reports it has been awarded a contract to provide an unspecified number of vertical-transportation (VT) units for the first line of the new elevated railway system in Bogotá, Colombia. The company will provide high-performance mid-rise elevators and escalators designed specifically for high-traffic environments. Disabled access will be a high priority, with every elevator designed for passengers with reduced mobility. The lifts will have easily reachable control buttons and zero-step access. Each VT unit will be connected to the Schindler Technical Operations Center in Medillín, allowing Schindler to remotely monitor the system 24/7. The Schindler ActionBoard will enable remote monitoring to maximize uptime, and Building Information Modeling and Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety, or RAMS, analysis will be used throughout the project to adhere to the highest standards. Construction is slated for completion in 2028.
