The Schmersal Group, headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany, has expanded its global network with Schmersal Middle East Industrial Trading LLC, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Schmersal announced on November 28. The company previously opened a branch in Dubai in 2019 to focus on the economic potential of markets in the Middle East, with approximately 430 million inhabitants. Saudi Arabia is investing heavily in infrastructure development and large-scale projects such as NEOM, the Red Sea Project and Qiddiya. A series of giant developments — many of which were showcased at the Cityscape conference in Riyadh — are part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030 plan to transform the country and emphasize the growth of non-oil sectors. Automation and safety solutions are critical components of achieving efficiency, productivity and safety for these developments, Schmersal observes. Upon announcing the new Riyadh office, Schmersal Director of Asia Pacific Middle East Uwe Seeger said the company is “moving closer to our local customers, which we see as a great advantage since Saudi Arabia has great business potential for us.”
