Schmersal Böhnke + Partner, based in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, and View Elevator of Austria are working together to develop lift systems with a focus on digitalization, the companies announced on April 13. Schmersal develops, designs and manufactures components, control systems and remote diagnostic systems for the lift industry. Start-up View Elevator specializes in digital systems for lift management and safe, barrier-free use. View founder and CEO Johannes Schober said his company’s technologies can be used on lift systems universally and aim to improve passenger safety, reduce operator expense and optimize equipment lifecycle. Dr. Andreas Hunscher, head of Lift Business at the Schmersal Group, said that View Elevator’s product range is an “ideal addition” to the range from Schmersal, adding, “We believe that the cooperation agreement will see an innovation boost in the development of digital systems for lift technology.” Hunscher said that digitalization of lift technology allows operators to improve the efficiency of their lifts, which, in some cases, are decades old and need multiple retrofits. Schmersal and View Elevator plan to host a joint exhibit at interlift 2022 on April 26-29 in Augsburg, Germany.
