Construction has started at the Andover Business Park, home to Stannah’s new 90,000 ft2 factory that will see production of the company’s stairlifts and platform lifts streamlined under one roof, the company announced on its website. The first stage of work will focus on preparing the site for groundwork, with the construction of the steel frame due to start at the end of the year. Work is due to be completed in the summer of 2023. The factory will allow for the expansion of production capacity, reducing lead times for customers around the world and providing a state-of-the-art facility for the manufacturing assembly teams. Furthermore, in line with Stannah’s sustainability objectives, 23,500 ft2 of solar panels will be fitted, saving 203 T of CO2 emissions per year. Stannah’s Group Managing Director Jon Stannah said, “This expansion forms part of our wider growth strategy, and we are delighted that we have been able to keep production in Andover, helping to support the local economy and community, bringing more jobs to the area.” Stoford is the developer overseeing the project, and Benniman is the construction team. The new factory is an important milestone for Stannah, which was established 155 years ago and is now run by the fifth generation of the Stannah family.
