Torremolinos City Council announced on February 12 that it will soon charge a fee to visitors, except for children, seniors and the mobility-impaired, for elevator access to the Torremolinos beach in Costa del Sol, Spain, Travel and Tour World is among outlets to report. The per trip charge will apply to the use of the three elevators that provide access to the area. Two of the elevators connect Plaza Punta Tarifa in the town center to the beachfront, while the third connects La Batería Park with Carlota Alessandri Avenue. The elevators will remain free for several weeks as part of a trial period. Following this period, the cost will be set at EUR1 (US$1.04) per ride. Frequent users can purchase discounted passes, including a 10-trip pass for EUR7.50 (US$7.82), a 50-trip pass for EUR25 (US$26.09) and a 100-trip pass for EUR40 (US$41.73). This decision follows the recent inauguration of the 30-m tall panoramic elevator in La Batería Park.
