WEEF Holds Second In-Person Meeting in Frankfurt

The World Elevator and Escalator Federation (WEEF), founded in 2019, held its second in-person meeting in Frankfurt, Germany, on April 7. The first meeting took place in Shanghai in 2023. The most recent meeting further accelerated cooperation among members and facilitated information exchange about top priorities such as consolidation of the global technical harmonization process based on International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards and their uniform adoption worldwide. WEEF members vowed to work together to address the sector’s key issues, starting with collecting data on the number of installations in each region and global incident reports. WEEF is moving toward establishing a dedicated Global Statistical Committee to work with the Global Elevator Safety Forum. The topic of safety, including WEEF’s intent to launch a World Safety Day, was reaffirmed as a priority, alongside education and training. Special attention was also given to the evolving modernization market. The European Lift Association (ELA) remains responsible for coordinating WEEF’s work under new ELA President Wim Koster and WEEF Secretariat Luca Pezzini. — reported by WEEF
