The World Elevator & Escalator Federation (WEEF) plans to hold a meeting on July 6 during the World Elevator & Escalator Expo at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, Luca Pezzini, secretary general of the European Lift Association (ELA), announced. Set to take place both in-person and virtually, the meeting will include representatives from ELA, Liftinstituut, the Global Elevator Safety Forum, Chinese regulatory and standardization bodies, and more. Continuing the effort launched upon the signing of the Protocol of Agreement in Langfang, China, in April 2019, the Federation plans to discuss adoption of ISO standards at the worldwide level, global conformity assessments in light of innovation and R&D and the need for industrial statistical data at a global level to improve safety. Pezzini says a closed session for signatories of the 2019 Protocol will be followed by an afternoon session from 3:30-5:30 p.m. local time to discuss activities and global industry data. Interested parties may contact Pezzini at email.
