Woman Dies In Mexico Elevator Shaft Fall

A mother in Mexico plunged to her death when an elevator door opened on an empty shaft, Latin Post reports. The woman reportedly attempted to take the elevator at a building in Portal Corregidora, at the center of Moroleón in Guanajuato state, at around 9 a.m. on February 6. The report said the woman did not notice that the elevator car was not in place when she stepped through the opened door. A person who witnessed the fall called safety personnel to report the woman was injured. Responders arrived at the scene within minutes and found the woman’s body at the bottom of the shaft. It was not immediately known from which floor the victim had fallen. Regional authorities said they are investigating the cause of the elevator failure.
