The body of a woman who fell down an elevator shaft at Kualanamu Airport in Medan, Indonesia, was found on April 27, three days after the April 24 incident, AsiaOne is among outlets to report. Security video from the lift shows the woman entering the double-sided lift at approximately 8:30 p.m., turning to face the doors she entered from “unaware that the doors behind her had opened seconds earlier.” The doors she entered from then open slightly, and the woman takes a step forward and falls down the shaft. After a smell was reported that led to the body’s discovery, responders worked for roughly 5 h to extract it from the bottom of the lift shaft. The incident is under investigation, and the woman’s family plans to lodge a police report since they believe the elevator was faulty and the incident was “a result of human error.”
